Dental Benefits Now Available to Children in CHIP

Young Texans in the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) now have an even bigger reason to smile. Starting April 1, 2006, CHIP is expanding to include dental benefits, including regular check-ups and other critical dental services.

Families with children enrolled in CHIP will receive a letter and handbook explaining the dental benefits, a member ID card and a directory of participating dentists.
For more information you may use the following web page address:
http://www.hhs.state.tx.us/news/release/033006_CHIP_Dental.shtml

Thanks,
Mrs. Peters, BSN RN

The Texas Physical Fitness Assessment Initiative (PFIA) is a program designed to gather physical fitness data of Texas students for analysis in order to determine if there is any correlation between student academic achievement, attendance, obesity, disciplinary problems and school meal programs.  Each year, physical fitness instructors will collect various fitness measurements of students and record and submit that information to the state.  Parents will receive a copy of their student's assessment in the late Spring. If you have any questions on PFIA, please contact your child's campus or visit the PFIA website at www.tea.state.tx.us/health/PFIA.html
